P.U.P. makes nominations to Integrity Commission
The People’s United Party has made two nominations to the Integrity Commission. A P.U.P. release states that Leader of the Opposition, John Briceño, in accordance with the Prevention of Corruption Act, has written to Prime Minister Dean Barrow, to recommend that the names of Attorney, Magali Marin and Accountant, George Swift, be forwarded to the Governor General for consideration to the Integrity Commission. The Commission comprises six persons plus a chairman. The Commission receives, examines, and retains all declarations filed in relation to the income, assets and liabilities of persons in public life. It also makes enquiries as it considers necessary in order to verify or determine the accuracy of the declarations filed under the Act. And lastly, it receives and investigates complaints regarding non-compliance with or breach of the provisions of the Act. However, the National Assembly may by resolution, apply the Act to any public appointee or any class of public appointee and to any public officer or any class of public officer.
