Cop charged in Caye Caulker killing
In other court news, this time on the criminal side, a policeman has been charged in last weekend’s fatal shooting at Caye Caulker. Constable Sheldon Arzu has been charged with manslaughter in last Saturday’s death of Ruben Alarcon, which occurred at the island’s police station. Police say that Arzu acted in self-defence against an armed attack, but witnesses contend that Alarcon had no weapon and posed no threat to the police officer.
