Minivan Driver Crashes into Rail on Chetumal Street Bridge
There were several traffic accidents over the weekend. The Chetumal Street Bridge opened for traffic over two years ago and it took some four point five million dollars to do it – but a portion of the bridge was extensively damaged over the weekend. On Sunday afternoon, a vehicle slammed into the bridge and caused damage to the metal railing. Sometime before three-thirty, police responded to an accident on the Chetumal Bridge where they observed a blue minivan on the right hand side of the bridge with half of the vehicle on the walkway of the bridge. The railing was extensively damage, completely ripped off from the impact of the collision. Initial police investigation revealed that the driver of the minivan, Enrique Cuellar, was driving from the direction of the George Price Highway when he lost control of his vehicle. Cuellar was served with a Notice of Intended Prosecution and police investigation continues.
