New play opens this weekend

Story Picture
It’s the latest play to hit the Belizean entertainment scene. Dear Counsellor makes its local debut at the Princess Hotel on Saturday night. According to the female lead in the production, Stephanie Young, the story will make the audience laugh, cry and best of all… identify with the characters on stage.

Stephanie Young, “Grace Brown”

“Well it talks a lot about relationships. A lot of people go for relationships because of money or for other things rather than love. And the play talks about sometimes you meet people in your lifetime, friends that will impact you in a very special way and that person can be the perfect match for you, rather than because the person is wealthy or the person has a odd job or something.”

“Joe is Christian, he is a lay preacher and Grace is his co-worker, they work at this accounting firm. And Grace is helping him with this gospel concert and that’s how they start to exchange more for love and the electricity begins to flow between them. And then later on Grace actually profess that love to him and they share the same thing and then they get married.”

The leading man is played by Curtis Gillett. Dear Counsellor was written by Jamaican playwright Trevor Rhone. Tickets for the opening night dinner theatre are fifty dollars, while shows on Sunday, Tuesday and Wednesday cost fifteen dollars each.
