“I got a call that, and I must say, I continue to trust and believe in the work that we do, the intervention that we do on a weekly basis with these guys because the person who messaged me is from the opposing side of South Side, who sent me a message and said, “Ms. D., Alex is being detained. Can you go and check on him?” And I had to really look at the message to say, “Wow, why would he be telling me this?” So of course I came over. One of the things that my purpose is to work together to bring calm into especially Belize City. There’s so much happening within our society that I think that if we continue to frustrate, it’s like an ants nest that is dormant and if you step into it, the wrong path, you’re going to stir up a whole issue of them retaliating.”
