Bus kills Northern Highway cyclist
Death by bus: a scenario that is no stranger to Belizeans. The latest incident took place on Saturday morning on the Northern Highway. According to police reports, around eight-thirty that day, a Novelo’s bus was travelling from Orange Walk to Belize City, but near mile nineteen, it collided with a cyclist. The victim was rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital, but was pronounced dead on arrival. He has since been identified as Derrick Ebanks, a resident of mile twenty and a half on the Old Northern Highway. The bus driver, Archibald Swasey, is tonight charged with manslaughter by negligence, causing death by careless conduct and driving without due care and attention.
