Two detained in Plues Street killing
Over the weekend the nation recorded its twenty-second murder for the year when on Sunday afternoon multiple gunshots rang out in the southside of Belize City. When the noise of exploding gunpowder subsided, it was quickly replaced by the screams of family members tending to the victim who lay bleeding on the sidewalk. As News 5’s Jacqueline Woods discovered, this was a killing with particular malice as the perpetrator shot once to disable his target, then stood over him and emptied the magazine.

Family members believe forty-three-year-old Leopold “Poli” Audinett was intentionally shot and killed by someone who was close to them. According to authorities, shortly after two on Sunday afternoon, Audinett was walking through this alley off Plues Street in Belize City when a lone gunman fired several shots at him. The assailant first shot Audinett in the leg and as he writhed in pain on the sidewalk, the shooter shot him twice in neck…then once in the head.

“Why?”
Kenrick Domingo
“Well I don’t really know why. And up to now, June the ninth, I still no know why he shot my brother because my brother is not a trouble person like first. My brother is a changed person since he went to the Belize old prison and spent seven years flat. He was a changed person. He had his own mechanic shop, he had several taxis that run out on the streets of Belize for him.”
Police have since detained two persons for questioning including one man, identified as Raymond “Bigga” Myers.

“According to the information I heard, is that he was dogging my brother through the alley way. There were three of them coming through, one at front, my brother in the middle and one at back. He said that he is sorry that he shoot my brother, but from the time he shot someone in his foot and then you are over them, you are positive sure who you want to shoot.”
Audinett’s brother, Kenrick Domingo, says the family does not know for sure, but they believe the motive of the murder may be a relationship Audinett had with Myers’ sister.

“Couple years ago my brother was his sister’s boyfriend and the little problem that they had been through is their own, my brother and his sister. I don’t see why he should take my brother and his sister’s problem to be his personal affairs.”
Authorities have yet to charge any of the suspects detained. Jacqueline Woods for News 5.
