Could Flights Make a Comeback?
According to Greif, the airline company is constantly looking for new routes and combinations to work. He says that if the current tax structures change, the company will revisit the routes. Meanwhile, its domestic service and the other destinations remain intact.
John Greif III, President, Tropic Air
“If the situation changes, if some huge amount of business develops in Merida; if the Mexican government changes their tax structure, if the Belize government changes their tax structure, they are willing to take another look at it. But at this time right now with things the way they are, we simply can’t continue those three routes. This Tropics thirty-eight year in operation, so we have expanded as much as we could locally. We recently in the past few years added San Pedro to Tower Hill, which you wouldn’t think there is a lot of business there. We’ve added San Pedro to Belmopan with a continuing flight on to San Ignacio….once again a place where you wouldn’t think there is a lot of business. We’ve expanded the flights to San Pedro; every hour on the hour into the night.”
