3 arrested for attack on grandfather and young boy
Tonight police have arrested three men for the vicious beating of an elderly man and his grandson. Twenty-four year old Eldon Leslie, twenty-two year old Dennis Nunez and twenty-one year old Albert Castro, all from Dangriga, have all been charged with two counts of attempted murder, two counts of dangerous harm, one count of aggravated burglary and one count of use of deadly means of harm. According to police, the arrests are the result of intense investigations by officers in Dangriga working with information provided by residents of the town. Leslie, Nunez and Castro appeared in Dangriga’s Magistrate’s Court this afternoon and were remanded to Hattieville Prison.
Meanwhile, hospital authorities tell News 5 that eighty-nine year old Solomon Augustus Pike and his thirteen-year-old grandson, Daniel Flores, both remain in critical condition at the K.H.M.H. Pike is still on life support suffering from severe head and body injuries, while Flores sustained a fractured skull and a broken wrist in the attack. The young boy is said to be responding favourably to medical treatment, but family members told News 5 this afternoon that he is still suffering from nightmares. Both Pike and Flores were at their home in Dangriga over the weekend when just before dawn on Monday, it is believed the men broke into their home and savagely beat them as they lay in their bed. The motive of the attack has yet to be ascertained as even though the home was ransacked, the attackers stole nothing.
