Deposed C.E.O. finds new job at U.B.

He was one of those people who dropped out of sight following the March fifth elections, a casualty of highly publicized scandals in the Ministry of Education. But tonight, Dr. Dorian Barrow, the former Chief Executive Officer in that ministry, is back in the news. That’s because he’s landed a new job with the University of Belize. Barrow has been hired as the Executive Assistant to Interim U.B. President, Dr. Corinth Morter Lewis. He assumes the post under a one-year contract come June first. According to Lewis, Barrow’s background and experience in education, combined with adequate supervision and monitoring, should equal good work. The U.B. President says restructuring within the university has increased the workloads of both herself and the Vice President of Academic Affairs, a situation which forced her to shop around for a representative to help manage her additional responsibilities…and Barrow was her choice. Lewis told News 5 that the university will embark on several development initiatives in the next few months, in an effort to make U.B. more independent and more importantly, more financially viable.
