Constable Franklin Ramirez and Co-Accused Bailed for Guatemalan Gun
Police Constable Franklin Ramirez as well as Trevor Brown and Elorey Graham were all granted bail of six thousand dollars, plus two sureties of three thousand dollars when they appeared in the Belize City Supreme Court today to firearm charges. The men were busted on Monday when the Mobile Interdiction Team stopped a vehicle travelling from San Ignacio to Belmopan. PC Ramirez was behind the wheel while Brown, Graham and a minor were passengers. A quick search of the vehicle didn’t turn up anything incriminating, but after it was searched at the police compound in Belmopan, an illegal Guatemalan nine millimetre pistol and three magazines were found. Now that they are on bail, the trio is to report to the Raccoon Street Police Station every Friday starting next week and they are due back in the Belmopan Magistrate’s Court on November ninth.
