Four will receive national honours

Before the Prime Minister exits the spotlight tonight, he will take time to honour a group of outstanding people who have contributed significantly to Belize’s development. At a special national awards ceremony, the P.M. will confer the Order of Distinction on O. Nigel Bolland for his work in the field of education; Mary Valdez for her work in ballet and the arts and posthumously on Beverly Smith Lopez for her work in arts and entertainment. Long time friend of Belize and facilitator in efforts to end the Guatemalan claim to Belize, Sir Shridath Ramphal, will receive the Order of Belize for his work in the field of diplomacy.
