P.M. meets with Quintana Roo Governor
Today in San Pedro Prime Minister Said Musa and what seemed like half the Cabinet met with a delegation led by Governor Joaquin Hendricks of Quintana Roo. The occasion was the first bilateral roundtable between Belize and the neighbouring Mexican state. According to the Prime Minister, there are a number of areas where cooperation is critical.
Prime Minister Said Musa
“Today we are setting out to establish the basis for re-enforcing and enhancing cooperation with special emphasis on encouraging investment and trade on both sides of the border; promoting cooperation between the Corozal Free Zone and related entities in Mexico, pursuing the integration of tourism activities within the framework of the Mundo Maya agreement, and intensifying collaboration between civil authorities on matters of security and legal affairs. Our approach is based on the realities of what is necessary and what is feasible for implementation.”
To advance that implementation a number of joint working groups were established.
