Lotto jackpot hits record high
In the history of Lotto, no jackpot has ever climbed so quickly. Today, Jacqueline Woods found out why.
With a little help from the unclaimed prize fund, the lotto jackpot now stands at one hundred and fifty thousand dollars!
Carol Young, Manager, Tropical Gaming Company
“What happen, we had seventy-five thousand dollars of unclaimed prizes. We used twenty-five thousand to jump the jackpot before and this time we decided to use another twenty five thousand and jump the jackpot from a hundred and twenty-two thousand, five hundred to a hundred and fifty thousand in order for us to match the highest jackpot that we have ever had.”
Although the jackpot is reaching for the stratosphere, ticket sales have yet to really take off.
Carol Young
“Sales have been good but it can be better. I believe with the agricultural show that we will be going to this weekend, that we should see the money that we should have been making once we reached a certain point because it really has been quite disappointing for Me. Why? I don’t know, people have been busy. A lot of things affect lotto sales, Mother’s Day and nobody has the money or the time to be bothered with it so I think this is a good weekend that we should really do good.”
Saturday’s lotto draw can be seen right here on Channel Five at 9:00p.m. Jacqueline Woods for News Five.
