Indian community disproves report that visas for visiting ballet not paid for
The Chinese Disabled People Performing Arts Troupe departed the country earlier today, after spending a few days in Belize visiting with the local Chinese community. But their brief stay in the Jewel wasn’t without its share of controversy, as government refused to waive their visa fees. The Belize Chinese Association was up in arms following the refusal of that request and went as far as saying that government had extended that courtesy to the Khatak Ballet which was visiting from India a few days earlier. That allegation is being refuted by the Indian community which has produced receipts proving that five hundred Belize dollars were paid per visa for the performers. The Khatak Ballet visited Belize last week where they performed in celebration of India’s seventieth anniversary of its independence.
