Top Student Taking Up Scholarship in U.K.

…and her accomplishments opened doors for Ramirez. Aside from being recognized as a youth ambassador in 2016, her achievement of twenty CXC passes qualified Bernice for a scholarship with Pestalozzi International Village in the United Kingdom. News Five caught up Bernice and her mother, Lucero Ramirez just before she departed Belize for the U.K.

“In the United Kingdom they do A-levels and so you choose three to four subjects in which you want to major in. And after that, you can go to a university in the United Kingdom to get a further degree. So I want to get a linguistic degree; so I am going to be taking mathematics, English and Spanish…I may even take economics.  We have a lot of Spanish speaking countries that also require English so I think that would be great and I am really good at public speaking so I see that strong desire in me to do that.”

“I believe that we parents are the first ones who are the teachers for our children and I believe that Bernice took the lesson from when she was a little girl.  And she took the discipline that I gave her along with my husband and I feel very happy for her. She’s excelling from since she was in beginners; she was in first place all the time. It is sour sweet, but I feel very blessed that she is going to study in a far country where she is going to get a better education. And I believe that every parent should have that dream for their children to succeed in life.”
