J.P.’s warned not to charge for services
No justice of the peace should be asking people to pay for services they provide for free. That is according to the Attorney General’s Ministry, which sent out a statement condemning reports it has received of JP’s soliciting remuneration for their services. According to the Ministry, any JP found guilty of soliciting any form of consideration from citizens will be removed. This also applies to persons found engaging in acts of misconduct which satisfy the A.G. that they are no longer fit and proper for the office. Persons with complaints are asked to formally complain to any office of the Attorney General, Magistrate’s Court or police station or to write the Ministry by email at ministry.info@agm.gov.bz
