Two dead in weekend traffic mishaps

Story Picture
The streets of Belize City were not the only killing fields this weekend as the roads in the south also saw their share of bloodshed. On Friday afternoon twenty-four year old Jose Sho of San Vicente Village, Toledo, was run over by the pickup truck in which he was riding. How is this possible? According to Santiago Coc, who was driving the vehicle, he was heading in the direction of Jalacte Village, but while going up a steep hill, his vehicle stalled and began rolling backwards. Coc’s version of the story is that Sho jumped out of the moving pickup and fell under its right rear wheel. Sho was dead on arrival at P.G. hospital and Coc is being questioned by the police.

Twenty-four hours later, this time on the Hummingbird Highway, a forty-three year old man from Middlesex Village was knocked down and killed. Reports are that Pedro Caliz had just come off a bus and was crossing the Hummingbird Highway when a Toyota Four Runner ran into him. Caliz suffered multiple head and body injuries and was dead on arrival at the Southern Regional Hospital. The driver of the Four Runner, fifty-two year old Bill Nidiver, is being questioned by police.
