Suspected Drug Trafficker Brought Down by Police

A suspected drug trafficker is recovering at the Southern Regional Hospital from a gunshot wound to the leg.  Adolpho Nunez, also known as Sand, was in the vicinity of Rear Pine Street and Castillo’s Alley in Dangriga when police on mobile patrol intercepted him.  Upon sighting the officers, Nunez took off running.  One of the policemen produced his service weapon and identified himself as an officer before ordering Nunez to stop.  Nunez threw a black object towards the police and a struggle ensued.  During the scuffle, Nunez was shot in the leg.  The black bag was retrieved and it was found to contain two thousand, seven hundred and forty-nine grams of marijuana.  A police investigation continues.
