Firearms, Believed to be Linked to Castro, Taken Off Streets
Back to the story involving Shayanne Castro…Police have confirmed that it recovered four high-powered weapons off the streets, along with ammunition. However, no arrests were made and the firearms were deposited as found property. It is believed that these guns were handed over in a deal with the Castros in exchange for the dropping of charges against Shayanne. The first bust took place on Saturday night through an alley off Lakeview Street. Fourteen Aguila point-thirty-eight special live rounds and twenty-two Aguila nine-millimeter live rounds were found in a black plastic bag near a fence. On Sunday morning around nine-thirty-eight, searches in an abandoned lot located on Sarstoon Street yielded a nine-millimeter pistol with a wooden pistol grip along with a magazine and a point-three-eighty C.F.L brand live round. Just an hour later, a black twelve-gauge New Haven Mossberg shotgun was found under some grass on another empty lot on Sarstoon Street. Separately on Mahogany and Sittee Street, a search of an abandoned building yielded a point-thirty-eight special Smith and Wesson revolver inside a black plastic bag. And finally around two-ten in the afternoon, a search in the Lords’ Ridge Cemetery led the team to a tree near a tomb where a black plastic bag was recovered containing a black Glock nine-millimeter pistol with no serial number and one black magazine.
