Belize City woman: I was tied up and drugged
It’s a strange story that has far more questions than answers. But tonight, one Belize City woman is at home recovering from what she says was a brush with death at the hands of a still unidentified attacker. Twenty-seven year old Norma Serano told police she was alone at her home on Wilson Street on Thursday afternoon when a man claiming to be her boyfriend’s cousin attacked her. Serano’s account is that she was outside the house doing laundry when a plastic bag was placed over her head. When it was over, Serano’s hands and feet had been bound and she had been forced fed some sort of drug that left her unconscious. When family members arrived, they rushed Serano to the emergency ward at the K.H.M.H. According to police press officer G. Michael Reid, tests are being conducted on the contents that were flushed from Serano’s stomach, and police are on the lookout for a Hispanic man with a low haircut. With only that sketchy information to go on, the police are asking anyone with information on this bizarre incident to please call the nearest station. When News 5 visited her home this afternoon, Serano declined an on camera interview, but speaking through a family friend maintained that she has no personal relationship with her attacker, whom she barely recognized.
