Bar Brawl Charges Coming in San Pedro
While the commander of the Professional Standards Branch is busy with internal investigations, there is one more incident that’s presently being looked into. A pair of off-duty officers were involved in a bar fight in San Pedro which left one man injured. Those officers, during the altercation, also discharged their firearm when patrons of the establishment reportedly attacked them. According to ACP Williams, the police department is considering charges of wounding at the very least.
ACP Chester Williams, O.C., Professional Standards Branch
“In respect to the matter in San Pedro, the information is that there were two officers who went to a club on Glitter Street and while inside the club I think they had a dispute with, I think, one Rolito August. That disagreement ended up in the officers allegedly causing injuries to August, to the extent of wounding, and August had made a report to the police in San Pedro and to my office. It is also alleged that after the incident occurred with August that the officers were attacked by patrons of the club and that resulted in the officers discharging their weapons. So the report has been obtained and I will be reviewing the file tomorrow and give a directive where that is concerned. And more than likely, from what I have read and what I have been briefed, the officers will be charged for wounding at the least, hopefully sometime next week.”
