Tropic Air opens new city office
In a time when international airlines are cutting back on operations, one local airline has committed itself to expand. Today, Tropic Air improved its customer services by opening a new office in downtown Belize City. According to Tropic Air President, John Greif the Third, the airline serves up to six hundred passengers a day, and the Albert Street location will give those people easier access.

“We just feel that Belize as a country is growing dramatically as a tourist destination. And as the country goes, so goes Belize City. We felt that we needed to have a presence here; we felt this way for a while. The problem is location. So when we found the location we jumped on it. But I guess it’s more a series of small reasons than anyone big reason.
“We need to execute our sales from here for our corporate accounts and for our government accounts, even though Belmopan is the capital, still, most of the government functions occur here and we can get to most of the permanent secretaries and the financial officers here. Our corporate sales will be executed from this office and we needed a sales presence, where someone wants to pick up a ticket or actually we’ll deliver tickets in the downtown vicinity, we needed that as well. And even though the world is going electronic, we wanted a more personal face on the airline, and we felt that the best way to do that was with a downtown office. We took a senior staff member, Miss Miller, who’s been with us for over fifteen years and put her in charged of it, so we feel that we’ll be well served.”
Grief says they have also committed themselves to build a new and more modern terminal building at both the Belize City and San Pedro municipal airstrips. Those projects should be completed by the end of the year.
