Good Samaritan scares off rapist

Police are reporting tonight that a woman was raped last night on the north side of Belize City…but that the attack could have been much worse had a good Samaritan not intervened. The incident occurred around eight when, according to the victim, she was walking along Coney Drive. A man, described as fair complexioned, approached on a bicycle and forced her into an empty lot at gunpoint. He sexually assaulted her and was preparing to repeat his attack when a resident of the area came out of his house and fired a shot. The rapist fled on his bicycle. Police arrived shortly afterward and are looking for a suspect.
