Shop Argument Leads to Wounding Charge for Student
In the court of Chief Magistrate Sharon Fraser, twenty-three-year-old Adelma Maximo, a student at Gwen Lizarraga Evening School, was charged with wounding. Maximo wanted to plead guilty with an explanation, but the Chief Magistrate entered an equivocal plea of not guilty when she told the court that it was her accuser, Yasmin Morgan, who hit her first. Maximo, however, was dissuaded because the doctor found that it was Morgan who was injured. On September eighteenth, Maximo and Morgan had words at a shop where Maximo went to purchase crayons. Maximo claimed she was punched by Morgan and that she then grabbed her by her hair and punched her several times. Maximo was offered a bail of one thousand dollars and her case was adjourned until November second.
