Guat Caught with Smuggled Belize Cigarettes

A Guatemalan national has been busted with a large quantity of contraband cigarettes. According to reports in the Guatemalan media, the cigarettes found their way into Melchor de Mencos from Belize presumably, the Corozal Commercial Free Zone, which has become a central point for contrabandistas smuggling cigarettes into Guatemala. Thirty-six-year-old Jorge Anibal Barrientos Mendez was arrested in San Andres Village and inside the Dodge vehicle he was driving, Guatemalan authorities found close to four hundred thousand cigarettes, valued at over two hundred and eight thousand Belize dollars.
