Man wounded in Mahogany Street drive-by
One man lies wounded in the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital following a drive by shooting in Belize City. Shortly after three this evening, two friends, Morris Leslie and Alfredo Saragoza, were standing at the corner of Mahogany and Oleander Streets when a vehicle described as a small blue Toyota car with tinted windows approached at high speed and its occupants opened fire. The shooting, which took place not far away from a police sub-station, left Leslie with a gunshot wound to the body. According to witnesses, Saragoza also appeared to have been lightly wounded in the shoulder, but was treated by family members. Meanwhile, Leslie remains hospitalized in a stable but critical condition. Late this evening police informed News 5 that they came upon the suspected vehicle by mile two and a half on the Western Highway but its occupants had already left.
