Two shootings leave victims wounded

Separate shooting incidents on Sunday in Belize City have left two young men recovering from gunshots and the police with more questions than answers. According to the cops, around three-thirty that morning, twenty-five year old Marlon Budd was standing in the vicinity of B.T.L. Park on Newtown Barracks when a gunman walked up to him and shot him in the neck. Budd fell bleeding to the ground and the perpetrator fled the scene. The victim was rushed to the K.H.M.H. and tonight hospital authorities list his condition as serious but stable. A suspect has been detained in connection to this incident, but so far no arrest has been made. Police say that Budd has not been cooperating in the investigation.

Hours later, gunshots rang out again, this time at the corner of George and Church streets. Twenty-one year old Michael Henry told officers that just after seven on Sunday night, two men rode up to him and seconds later, one of them pulled out a handgun and started shooting. Two of the bullets found their mark, hitting Henry in his thigh and abdomen. He was rushed to the Karl Heusner Memorial Hospital and underwent surgery earlier today. Tonight, Henry is listed in stable condition. Police say they have recovered one nine millimetre expended shell from the scene and are looking for a suspect.
