Single mom of seven wins $110,000 Lotto
Lady luck smiled on another fortunate Belizean this week as Saturday’s Lotto draw has produced one more big winner. News 5’s Jacqueline Woods was on hand for the handing over.

Thirty-seven year old Elena Gongora is not certain if her political party will win tomorrow’s election, but today she is definitely feeling like a winner. This morning Gongora, a single mother with seven children, walked into the Lotto office to pick up her cheque for one hundred and ten thousand dollars! A quantity of money that Gongora said she did not expect to win.

“I checked it and I gave it to my friend and I checked it and I gave it to my sales person so she could check it. Make sure well those are the numbers for true.”

“How long have you have been playing Lotto?”

“Well, ever since from when it start. I stayed by my numbers, Wednesday and Saturday.”
The lucky numbers 03, 13, 15, 17 and 28 are the birth dates of Gongora’s children. She said it was not until two days after the draw that she found out she had won. But she already knows how the money will be used.

“Oh I got a land that I want to clear so it could be a property for me and then I have a house that I want to put on it. I want to build a house.”
Following the fifteen percent tax deduction, Gongora takes home ninety-three thousand, five hundred dollars. Jacqueline Woods for News 5.
In related news, there is still a prize of seventy-five thousand dollars remaining to be claimed at the Lotto office. According to Tropical Gaming Company, the second winner in the January second draw has still not come forward to claim his or her prize. To see if you are in the money, here are the winning numbers once again: 3, 7, 12, 14 and 24. According to Lotto’s management, you have ninety days from when the draw was aired to claim your prize. If no one comes forward by April second the company’s board will decide what to do with the money.
