Maypen student wins river poster contest
A student from Maypen Village has taken first prize in a poster contest focussing on the Belize River. Jude Moody, a standard four student, placed first in the competition, which involved thirteen village schools. This year’s theme was “My River” and the event was administered by the Belize Community Service Alliance. As first place winner, Moody and his entire class will receive a trip to the cayes courtesy of the Hugh Parkey Foundation. Runners up, who will also go on the caye trip, are Kevin Harris of Cristo Rey and Kendra Zelaya of Esperanza Village. The three winning schools will also receive a collection of textbooks. This weekend the B.C.S.A. will sponsor river cleanups at Branch Mouth and Santa Familia.
