Christmas di come – and so are the police
Additional reinforcement will be brought into Belize City as of Friday, when the Christmas season formally commences. With all the hustle and bustle in the streets of the Old Capital in the month of December, thieves are all the more tempted to take advantage of crimes of opportunity. In anticipation of a spike in crime during this time of year, the Belize Police Department will be putting more officers on the ground to carry out mobile and foot patrols in the days ahead.

“Every year the police department embarks on the Christmas anti-crime campaign. It normally begins on the first of December and we have personnel from all the branches, all the units come together and we start to do extra patrols every evening from Sunday to Sunday. It will be until the fifteenth of January next year.”
