Senior citizen charged for Aggravated Assault of minor
A seventy year old carpenter finds himself behind bars awaiting trial for allegedly sexually assaulting a four year old minor on May twenty-ninth. Emmanuel Gabourel, also known as “Dawdi” appeared in court this morning and was charged with the Aggravated Assault of the minor. Gabourel pleaded not guilty. The prosecution objected to bail on the grounds that the offence has become prevalent and that if granted bail, the defendant’s safety might be in jeopardy because he resides in the same area as the child. Magistrate Sharon Fraser upheld the objection and remanded Gabourel in custody until July when he is to reappear in court. Gabourel was reportedly caught in the act at his home by the child’s father. And according to the police, Gabourel claimed he repeatedly told the parents of the child to keep her away.
