Spanish Lookout man pleads guilty to gun charge
The Mennonites have earned a reputation in Belize and elsewhere as people who follow the biblical advice to “turn the other cheek”. That may be true, but according to police, one resident of Spanish Lookout backed up his faith in the Lord with a loaded revolver. Forty-four year old Ben Wolfe pled guilty this morning to keeping an unlicensed firearm and ten rounds of ammunition. The twenty-two-calibre handgun and ammo were found when police visited Wolfe’s home Saturday morning after receiving complaints from area residents about his threatening behaviour. Wolfe was fined a total of three thousand dollars, which must be paid by the end of this month.
