9 More Streets to be Concreted…
Nine more streets across the Old Capital are being re-done with concrete as the Belize City Council gears up for municipal elections next year. The over-two million dollar project, done by RJB Construction, was funded through monies sourced from leftovers of the Municipal Bond funding in which over one hundred streets were re-done. Mayor Darrel Bradley tells us more.
Darrell Bradley, Belize City Mayor
“We signed a contract to do nine streets in Belize City to the tune of two-point-six million dollars. And these streets include finishing West Canal and East Canal; completing Eyre Street, Chancellor Avenue, Racoon Street, Ebony Street, Gibnut Street, Third Street and Allan Pitts Crescent. And one of the ways that we were able to source the funding for doing this – we are getting it from a suppliers’ credit, so that the person that will be doing these streets – we are doing them through RJB Construction – they’re actually going to upfront the monies and we are actually going to pay them off over a three-year period.”
