B.T.L. and union agree on way forward
It took three hours of exchange between Belize’s only telecommunications company, its union and the Ministry of Labour. But by the end of the discussion, agreement was reached on a way forward for B.T.L. and its workers. Among the points settled are: A meeting will be held on Friday, February seventh between the management of B.T.L. and the executive of the Belize Communication Workers Union to work out the process of consultations and procedures to deal with any restructuring by B.T.L. as it affects employees. Management of B.T.L. will immediately put on hold any further employee displacements pending the outcome of Friday’s meeting, and as a show of good faith the B.C.W.U. will end its work-to rule action immediately and work closely with the management of B.T.L. to maintain a good industrial relations climate.
