Inmate to be Charged with Raping Another

The sexual assault of an inmate, an alleged rape that occurred at the Belize Central Prison, is being investigated by police and it is expected that the perpetrator of that crime will appear before the court by Tuesday.  News Five first reported the incident last Tuesday, when the family of the alleged victim came forward with a story claiming that the young man had been twice sexually violated by his cellmate.  ASP Alejandro Cowo says the accused is facing two counts of committing and unnatural act.

“An alleged sexual assault in prison, a medical examination confirmed that the complainant had been harmed.  Will there be any charges coming out of that since he made a significant complaint against his cellmate who has a name?”

“Yes, the police are investigating the matter and I think that today, the guy will be charged before the court, either today or tomorrow morning.”
