City Games takes over Central American Boulevard
If you don’t have plans for Sunday, the Belize City Council wants to spend the day with you. The Council has teamed up with the Gateway Youth Center, Youth Apprenticeship Program, National Sports Council and Apprenticeship Program to host part two of the City Games. If you think you have some ball skills, then you can get a team and play for cash prizes. Or if you just want a day out for some clean, family fun, Councillor Jason Edwards says you need to come out to the Central American Boulevard this Sunday:
Jason Edwards, Councillor, Belize City Council
“It is something that we look forward to and the youths are pretty excited about it. Sunday at ten-thirty we are going to be blocking off Central American Boulevard and we are going to be having both street basketball and street football five-a-side and three-a-side; first prize four hundred, second prize two hundred and the minister – the area rep himself- will be out there bringing his team to compete.”

“Is this open to all ages?”
Jason Edwards
“Yes, it is open for all ages as a way to unite all the youths together. Sports speaks a universal language and this is one way that we could actually unite all young people together through sports. Yes this is an opportunity for people to sell food; we will have trampolines; bouncy houses and stuff out there for the kids, so it is family event. It will be protected by the police and we invite all families to come out; anybody who think they could ball to come and show your skills and this is where you can show it.”
