Dean Nembhard Jr. Reeled in for Monica’s Robbery

Twenty-one-year-old Nutmeg Street resident, Dean Nembhard Junior is spending his first night behind bars at the Central Prison after he was arraigned today for the robbery at Monica’s Pawn Shop.  Last Thursday, businessman Dorian Usher was robbed at gunpoint outside of the pawn shop; four days later, police arrested and charged Nembhard Junior for the brazen mid-afternoon armed robbery. The construction worker and handyman appeared before Senior Magistrate Aretha Ford where he was slapped with a single charge of robbery with a firearm upon Usher. Nembhard Junior was unrepresented and pleaded not guilty to the charge, but could not be granted bail and was remanded to prison until January thirty-first, 2018.  Allegations are that around two-thirty p.m., Usher was outside the establishment when he was approached by Nembhard Junior and two other assailants. One of the men wearing a red hoodie pulled out a chrome pistol from his waistline, cranked it and demanded his personal effects. Fearing for his life, Usher took off his ten-carat Cuban link with diamond cut design gold chain with medal valued at two thousand one hundred dollars and placed it on the ground for the gunman. The assailants also got away with Usher’s fourteen-carat bracelet before fleeing in separate directions towards Elston Kerr Street and Cemetery Road.  According to Usher, while running away, the gunman fired several shots in his direction and that was when he pulled out his licensed gun and returned fire which caught Nembhard Junior to the left arm.  Usher then set chase on a bicycle and cornered the perpetrator inside a building owned by Harvey’s Security Company Services on Antelope Street Extension. Police later arrived on the scene and detained Nembhard Junior. Police are still looking for two other persons in connection with the armed robbery.
