Nicholas Pollard: dead at 79
A major figure in Belize’s early anti-colonial struggle has died. Seventy-nine year old Nicholas Pollard Senior succumbed to a heart attack at his Belize City home on Tuesday afternoon. Pollard was a union leader and political activist closely involved in the founding of the People’s United Party, although he later broke with the P.U.P. Pollard is survived by his widow, Eleanor, as well as numerous children and other relatives. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday afternoon at St. Martin de Porres Church.
