P.S.B.’s Chester Williams ‘Chased’ S.A.T. Officers from Scene

Chester Williams

According to ACP Williams, who has had extensive experience as an investigator, the shots that were fired came from inside the vehicle.  WPC Brown was Ahmad’s only passenger at the time of the incident.  On Thursday morning, several members of the Special Assignment Team returned to the scene of the shooting and stood guard over the vehicle.  It was not until the senior police officer shooed them away that they left the area.  He says that their presence would have only served to exacerbate the situation.

Reporter

“Sir, are you able to share if the WPC was on duty at the time the incident occurred?”

ACP Chester Williams, Commander, Professional Standards Branch

“She was off-duty.”

Reporter

“So she was in her uniform.”

ACP Chester Williams

“She was in her SAT uniform.”

Reporter

“Are you able to say when she came off duty?”

ACP Chester Williams

“She came off duty sometime after eight that night.”

Reporter

“Are you able to share what is the procedure in terms of an allegation that members of that same team arrived at the scene and that you yourself had to chase them away.  It is an allegation from the family.”

ACP Chester Williams

“When I arrived on the scene after six that morning, yes, members of SAT were there and I told them to leave, as I did not see the need for them to be there.  After all, the matter being investigated concerned one of their colleagues and I think that their presence would have been more intimidating than anything else and so I asked them to leave and they left.”
