Dead body found in Belize City

Late this evening residents living behind Euphrates Avenue complained to police about a foul odour coming from the vicinity of Gilda’s Cool Spot Bar. When authorities went out to the location they found, inside an abandoned wooden building, the badly decomposed body of fifty-two year old Russel Linares. Family members at the scene would not talk to News 5 on camera but told us that the last time they saw their brother was during the Christmas holiday. Linares, at the time of his death was unemployed and used to hang out in the area. The police say it is too early too determine how the deceased may have met his death, but because of the condition of the corpse they believe Linares died sometime Saturday night. Linares’ family cannot say if he was murdered, but last August he was attacked and his jaw broken during a fight and has not been feeling well. Coincidentally, the fight occurred in the same vicinity where the body was found.
