BAHA director moves to regional post
Beginning on Monday a new chief, Nerie Sanz, will be taking over at the Belize Agricultural Health Authority. BAHA’s current Managing Director, Pamela Scott, is leaving for El Salvador where she will head a regional project under the Plan Puebla Panama. Scott says the focus of the undertaking is to integrate aspects of plant, food, and animal health regulation to meet World Trade Organization guidelines.

“It would mean to facilitate the process and ensuring that it is easier for the importers as well as the exporters to meet those conditions from the very onset of their business, whether its wholesale or production-wise from the field. So they would understand the requirements prior to the development of the movement of agricultural commodities.”
Scott’s successor at BAHA, Nerie Sanz, was second in command during Scott’s tenure. Sanz, who has worked in the agricultural field for several years, recently earned a Masters Degree in Taiwan in the area of plant protection.
