Coastal Zone to Get the Same Treatment as PACT

According to Cho, there is also change coming for the Coastal Zone Management Authority and Institute. The Authority is undergoing a similar assessment process to PACT and Cho says it is recognized that there is a need to streamline its efforts to be as efficient and economical as possible while staying true to its mandate.

“Coastal Zone is a little bit behind PACT in terms of this because they have just concluded their institutional assessment in 2017, it’s still under consideration and there are still other elements, revisions to the Act that were proposed. The revision to the PACT Act was in 2015; revisions are proposed to the Coastal Zone Act just in 2017. So those are under consideration, but there is also a need to obviously have these institutions updated and respond to the current reality.”
