A Shocking Double Murder of Sisters in San Jose, Toledo
A grisly discovery of two nude bodies on a remote road in the Toledo District has left the southern community in shock. The bodies are that of two sisters – sixteen-year-old Josephine Oh and nineteen-year-old Cricencia Oh. The girls received huge chop wounds – and photos of the scene shows a chopped off part of one of the bodies. According to the family, the sisters left their home in San Antonio Village to go to San Jose for a church service; there, they visited with an older brother. The girls never made it back home and are believed to have been killed sometime between six-thirty and ten on Sunday night. They were last seen alive departing the village six-thirty on Sunday evening and the bodies were found just before eleven in the night. Our colleagues from PG TV were first on the scene today and with their help, we’ve put together a story on the latest shocking double murder. Andrea Polanco has more.

Two sisters were hacked to death here along the San Jose Road in Toledo. Police discovered their mutilated, nude bodies after ten-thirty on Sunday night. The girls, Cricencia and Josephine Oh, who are from San Antonio Village, were last seen walking out of San Jose village around six-thirty on Sunday evening. But a killer or killers met them on the way out – and butchered them. Their brother saw them around three on Sunday afternoon. He says they travelled to San Jose for a church event but stayed behind to visit a family member. The girls never returned. Mario Oh was overcome with grief of his sisters’ brutal demise.
Mario Oh, Brother of Murder Victim
“Well [crying] I saw them yesterday afternoon.”
Reporter
“Do you know what they were probably doing in San Jose?”
Mario Oh
“They went for a church with the Mennonites.”
Reporter
“Some people say they saw them walking out of the village, do you know why they did not come back with the Mennonite?”
“As they reach the Mennonite and the church finish, they gone – I got a brother right there living in San Jose and now when the church finish they gone to see my brother because they want to send something with them. And according to my other sister, she stayed in the church, she didn’t leave with them. And according to them they were waiting, waiting but they didn’t arrive.”
The blood stained road tells but piece of the gruesome tale of the girls’ brutal and tragic end. It appears they were chopped to death with a sharp blade weapon, possibly a machete. The murder scene shows that sisters were also slashed in the head, which left with bits and pieces of their hair in the blood soaked ground. Police say they have no motive at this time and no suspects. It is not known if they were sexually assaulted – that is pending a test with the medical examiner.
ASP Alejandro Cowo, O.C., C.I.B., Belize City
“On the road side they observed the nude bodies of two females; one is minor, with several apparent chop wounds to the body. What we have so far is that the females are from San Antonio Village and they had went to San Jose village to attend a church service and after the church service they went to visit their brother. And it was when they were going back to their village, they were brutally attack and their bodied were found by police. Police are in the village right now trying to establish a motive.”
Reporter
“We have heard that police were considering speaking to persons from her family – the two ladies families?”
ASP Alejandro Cowo
“They are sisters and as far as I know, nobody has been detained and there is no suspect at this moment.”
The girls’ family members say they have no idea why someone would want to kill them.
Reporter
“Did she tell you at any time if she had any enemies or anything like that?”
Delilah Oh, Sister of Murder Victims
“No. They just gone just to visit in San Jose. They gone along with my sister.”
Reporter
“And you have any idea why anybody would want to kill your sisters?”
Delilah Oh
“No.”
Reporter
“Did they have boyfriends?”
Delilah Oh
“No.”
“Did they give you any indication that they were going to meet anybody out there?”
Delilah Oh
“No. No.”
Reporter
“So you don’t have any idea why somebody would want to kill your sisters?”
Mario Oh
“No. No idea of that. I don’t know. I don’t know nothing about them.”
San Jose residents say that they saw the two young women enter the village – but they’re not sure what they were doing in the village – and then later that evening they left – setting out on the San Jose Road to an unknown destination. But they never imagined they would meet such a cruel and deadly fate.
Pablo Bol, Resident
“Walk into the village and then they are walking back [out] to their destination. I don’t know which place.”
Reporter
“Like they might have gone to buy something?”
Pablo Bol
“Well, roughly because when they went into the village they had nothing in their hands and when they are coming back out again they have a bag with them, too; maybe it could be chicken or whatever but they have a bag in their hand.”
Norma Bol, Resident
“I saw just like a blanket – hold like this. I saw them when they passed.”
Reporter
“And you’ve never seen them before?”
Norma Bol
“Huh huh.”
