Lotto jackpot hits $150,000
And since we’re on the subject of money, in case you hadn’t noticed, Belize’s largest Lotto jackpot in the history of the game will be drawn this Thursday. According to Tropical Gaming Company, ticket sales have escalated ever since the pot crossed the hundred thousand dollar line. And get this, today, it stands at one hundred and fifty thousand dollars. According to Lotto’s Carol Young, the public’s response to the game has been overwhelming.
Carol Young, General Manager, Tropical Gaming Co.
“Well the games have been good. It’s been like all other businesses, up and down. I’m glad that toward the end of this year we’ve reached this spot here. We had two other times this year where we went over a hundred. We went to a hundred and fifteen, and I believe a hundred and ten. Those two jackpots were won by single winners. I’m hoping that somebody will be lucky enough to start the new year on the correct foot.”

“Now I know tomorrow is a public and bank holiday, so will people be able to buy their lotto tickets, or is today the day to buy it and then I guess on Thursday before the draw.”
Carol Young
“Well we have agents countrywide. People should be able to purchase tickets from a lot of our agents, particularly the Chinese community. They are normally open on holidays, we have several of them that will be selling tickets, we will leave our main system open so people can purchase tickets from any agent that is open during the holiday tomorrow.”
“I’m very happy, I’m seeing lots of people coming in here today, even though it’s not a lotto draw day, so I can imagine what it will be like on Thursday.”
You can catch the big draw Thursday night at nine, right here on Channel 5.
