Last minute shoppers crowd stores

Story Picture
It’s after seven o’clock on Christmas eve and if you haven’t yet done your Christmas shopping, I strongly suggest that you get off the sofa and cut a trail for the nearest store. As for the rest of you, sit back and see how those last minute shoppers fared today on Albert Street.

Jacqueline Woods, Reporting

Downtown Belize City was busy today as shoppers were doing their last minute Christmas shopping. Despite the traffic and the rush, many took advantage of the super discounts offered by stores.

Jacqueline Woods

“Are you basically through with your shopping?””

Shopper #1

“Well at this moment I’m through with my chopping, because Christmas is right round the bend.”

Jacqueline Woods

“That sounds like you started shopping pretty early.”

Shopper #1

“Not really, like yesterday I started and I just picking up one one things that I forgot yesterday.”

Jacqueline Woods

“Have you finished with your shopping?”

Shopper #2

“Yeah, just some last minute items, like apples that I forgot yesterday. But other than that, I already did all the shopping?”

Jacqueline Woods

“So you started from early to avoid all this rush?”

Shopper #2

“yes, every other week or so, I little bit of this and a little bit of that.”

Whether people were looking for that special gift or last minute deals on ham and turkey, there was a crowd on the streets and inside the shops.

Shopper #3

“I trying real hard to finish, money done.”

Jacqueline Woods

“Well today they’re offering some pretty good deals. I think you could get as much as fifty percent discount on some items.”

Shopper #3

“Yeah, I’m leaving the town now, I’m broke.”

Jacqueline Woods

“Well I know you’ve been serving the public out here on Albert Street, but tell me, have you helped out yourself as well by getting all that Christmas shopping done?”

Shopper #4

“Not as yet, I have to feed the people the apples and grapes.”

If you still haven’t gotten your Christmas shopping done, don’t worry, most stores are open tonight until 9:00. Jacqueline Woods for News 5.
