Search for Simon Velasquez’s Killer Continues

But following the murder of Jex, several persons were detained for questioning. One of the detainees was Simon Velasquez, who was murdered two days later on Plues Street in Belize City, in George Street Gang territory. While it is speculated that the murders are related because Jex is associated with GSG, police today say that they are following all leads into Velasquez’s homicide, including the arrest of a female on the day of the murder.

“He was living with a female and that is the address or area that he usually frequent and because of his name being called out or after his release from San Pedro police in regards to the investigation of Mister Paul Jex that he came to Belize and that might have led to him fatally shot is a possibility.”

“I saw a female being taken away in handcuffs on the scene. Was this the female that she was with and was she questioned?”

“Yes I believe that was the female who was in the company of Mister Velasquez when he was shot. Yes she was questioned and interviewed and everything. But no we cannot get all the information that we were looking for.”

“Because it was known this person was a suspect of Paul Jex that this may have led to him being targeted?”

“That is the information that we have been receiving so far.”
