Anglican Bishop Says Don’t Give Up on Our Young People
On Monday, Anglican Bishop Philip Wright also addressed the crime issue on a general basis. He said we must all acknowledge that crime masks a number of societal problems that must first be addressed in order to eliminate much of the problem. It comes down to making serious overtures to affected youth, and the mentorship of adults in the church could be a key factor.
Bishop Philip Wright, Anglican Diocese
“Obviously, we continue to have a serious problem in the country in terms of crime; we continue to look at ways we can address the problem. From the Church’s perspective, I think we still need to work with the young people; we still need to try and let them have a greater sense of purpose in life. And we need to reach out to them in terms of helping to meet their other pressing needs, which are contributing factors to some of the crime and violence that we’re seeing.”
