Teen alleges brutality by cops

This morning, fifteen year old Michael Faux and his mother Sharon Augustus visited News 5 to complain about an instance of police brutality they claim was committed against the young man. According to Augustus, the police are looking for someone they say was involved in a shooting incident last month and that the person can help them locate the weapon. But Augustus claims her son is not the guy police should be looking for and she is tired of the constant harassment by authorities. The latest incident allegedly occurred around 8:00 this morning. Faux claims a police team headed by Sergeant Chester Williams went to the Friends Boys School where Michael is a student, took him out of class and drove him up to mile eight on the Western Highway. It was there, Faux alleges, that the police assaulted him.
Michael Faux, Alleges Police Brutality
“They teak me to eight miles and tell me how if I nosh get the gun, I wah know what they will do to me by Thursday and thing. One bax in my head back too and tell me, if you nosh know weh the go on, you nosh even wah spend your Christmas out here. I tell him for what, and I nosh do nothing. The police they have me from last week; I tell them for what you wah come and teak me out of my class and I no know what the happen and I know I nosh do nothing wrong.”
Sharon Augustus, Mother
“It really is upsetting me because every time they come and ask me for my son, I give them my son. So I want to know why they come and harass my son every minute.”
Jacqueline Woods
“Do you believe it is somebody else the police are looking for?”
Sharon August
“Last week they had my son for seventy-two hours and then they released my son. If they wanted to charge my son they would have charged him from then.”
Following the report, News 5 contacted Sergeant Chester Williams regarding the alleged incident. According to Williams, they picked up Faux after they received a report that he was wanted for aggravated assault. Williams says the only reason they took Faux on the highway is because at the time they had received the call, they were en route to search a home at mile eight and just carried Faux along for the ride. Williams says once they reached the location, they received a call from C.I.B. saying that they were awaiting witness statements and until such time, they should release Faux in order for him to return to school. Williams further stated that no police officer beat or assaulted Faux in any way. Williams says the team of officers then had to go to another location and it was at this time that they asked Faux if he wanted to catch a bus to go back to school. Faux said yes, and was given two dollars and twenty-five cents for the fare. Williams says they do believe Faux was involved in the shooting incident one month ago, but have been unable to charge him due to a lack of witness statements.
