Yucatan wildlife exhibit opens at Mex institute

School might soon be out for the little ones, but that doesn’t mean learning has to stop. El Colegio de la Frontera Sur is currently showcasing a display of animals and plants from the region at the Mexican Cultural Institute on Newton Barracks. Called “Wildlife and Trees from the Yucatan Peninsula”, the exhibition includes information in English and Spanish on creatures both cool and creepy, that are bound to catch your eye.

“The exhibition is divided into two sections, one is the animal or fauna section that is showing animals from different areas in the Yucatan peninsula, bats also included is a manatee skeleton. And the second section is just relating to flora, principally the different kind of fruits that Quintana Roo is producing.”

“The idea is to promote the activities of this centre in Belize by sharing different kinds of research, principally in the natural resources protection and sustainable development. The second thing is to promote the studies that this centre is offering. It’s offering courses in masters and doctorate degrees for people that are interested in this country, always regarding to the natural resources protection.”

The exhibition is free and open to the public between the hours of 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. from Monday to Friday and on Saturday from 9:00 to 1:00.
